Weddings

Let's talk:
Rockcliffe Farm Retreat offers exceptional personalization for your wedding. We would love to have your wedding at Rockcliffe Farm Retreat IF we suit your tastes and style. We are not your typical site, and our service to you will be specific to what you would like us to do and how you would like your wedding to be.

What it’s like here:
We are in a mostly hardwood forest, which is both secluded and soothing. We have several “fields” in which you might have your wedding and/or reception.
   
Your guests will feel like they have gotten away from the city, but will be only a 30 minute drive from the City of Lynchburg, 20 minutes from the Town of Appomattox.
   
You and/or your guests may stay in our Lodge before or after the wedding, and organize it to suit your needs and the number of friends or family you’d like to stay.

What you’ll need to plan for:
The Lodge can comfortably accommodate 50 guests seated inside, or 75 if you squeeze a bit (say, if you planned to be outside but the weather didn’t cooperate).
   
For outdoor weddings larger than 75 people, you’ll need to rent a tent. Some venues suggest you always rent a tent.
   
The Lodge has 4 full bathrooms inside, one of which is at ground level, the other 3 are upstairs. We recommend porta-johns for any size group if you’ll be renting a tent, and definitely if you have more than 75 guests.

Pets are family members too, we invite them to participate in your special day!

What we offer:

We have been told consistently that we offer unusually personalized attention, and we will do so for you.
   
The Lodge has proven over and over that it is an embracing sort of setting. It will be comfy and cozy and you will have such things as ample linens, ample paper products (toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels), as well as an ironing board and iron. The kitchen should have any piece of equipment you’d need for snacks or meals. It sounds small at 3 bedrooms, but embraces large groups so that they don’t feel crowded, easily sleeping 20.
   
We have additional tables for serving inside and have a number of picnic tables immediately around the Lodge for outdoor meals.
   
We have two firepits which add great fun, scenic atmosphere, and actual warmth to an outdoor wedding, in addition to providing a social setting for smokers to congregate around if the wedding group is mainly inside.
   
We have running water and electricity available for an outdoors wedding, and for the use of caterers.
   
There is a small 3-sided barn which provides an excellent setting in which to serve your drinks and food, or to use for a variety of other purposes. One corner can be set up as a photo booth for your guests, for example.
   
We have decorative outdoor lights for stringing around, depending upon where the focal point of your wedding will be.
   
We offer an unlimited number of potential sites for having your actual ceremony, the choice is up to you. We will work with you to do anything we can to prepare the site for you.
All ameneties can be arranged.
Other planning needs:
We can offer suggestions on all of these:

1. Wedding Coordinator (can be a relative or a professional, but you will need help! We are also available for this)
   
2. Photographer and/or Videographer
   
3. Tent and various supplies such as chairs and tables, etc.
   
4. Out door restroom facilities. (we can order for you)
   
5. Caterer
   
6. Bartender or someone to be in charge of beverages (liquor license: $55). Required if you have a caterer.
   
7. Flowers
   
8. Official for conducting the ceremony
   
9. Decorating assistance
   
10. Parking attendants (2-4)
   
11. Bathroom attendant (1)
   
12. Clean-up oversight (or leave it to us—additional fee will apply)

Everyone has a mental picture of their ideal location for getting married. If we are that location for you, we look forward to meeting you and working with you on making this very special day of yours absolutely wonderful.

Rates



Base Site Fee $2100-$3000 Varies with size of wedding



Overnight Accommodations (camping available) $350/night
up to 8 people
$35 each additional guest per night. No charge for babes in arms. Weekly rates and flat rates may be available.



Additional labor $50/hour To be discussed



Cleaning Fee $350  



Deposit $350 refundable minus an administrative fee, for 30 days. The balance will be due 3 days before the wedding.



 
Site fees include preliminary site visits, number of wedding guests, type of wedding (alcohol or no alcohol for example), whether you plan to stay at the Lodge either before or after your ceremony, and how many people you think may be staying with you. There will be an additional flat rate for unexpected overnighters. Site fees are affected by the number of outside contractors who will need to be involved.


 
Staying at the Lodge during your wedding and other stuff:
We are very sensitive to the other costs you’re incurring during your wedding, and will work with you on the cost of staying overnight.

We offer a flat rate for weddings serving alcohol, so that as many friends as may need to stay rather than try to drive home, may. After we know the size of your wedding we will give you that rate. If you have friends coming in from out of the area, we will also give you a flat rate for having a “group” stay.

If you would like to have your honeymoon with us, we will give you a special rate for that which will include other “specials” particular to our Retreat’s setting. Ask.

If you would like to entertain out of town friends, we offer canoe rentals in season, and guided nature hikes year-round. We can give you discounted admission to the Appomattox National Historical Park and offer other entertainment, depending on the interests of your group.

A Riverside Wedding:
We are very happy to work with you if you would like to have a riverside wedding. Means of transportation for guests to the river is the primary item to be considered, so be sure to include time for a drive to our river frontage (2 miles from the front door of the Lodge) if this is something you might like to do.
